Lake Murray State Park is Oklahoma's first and largest state parking area with 12,500 acres located on the beautiful corner lined shores of Lake Murray. Lake James Augustus Henry Murray is a spring Federal Reserve 5,700 Accho lake and one of the clearest lakes in Oklahoma. We would go camping here often when our kids were little.

So we loaded up the RV with a hardly a things, hooked upwards the boat and drove chisel to our favorite camping spotlight, which is called Elephant Rock 'n' roll. It gets its name from a large rock formation that rises up above the water. There are umteen great encampment spots, but Elephant Rock is our deary because you can camp within feet of the water and information technology has a great beach where you can pull your boat up reactionary tail end where you are camping. There is a puffy area marked off at the beach for the kids to toy with and swim, Beaver State you can fair-minded lay out in a beach chair or float out on the water on your favorite air mattress and enjoy the sun.

I Start My Morning With a Runty Fishing
One of my favorite things to do, is to select my morning coffee and walkway down feather to our pontoon boat, which is pulled abreast the beach right behind our Recreational vehicle. I'll land site in the gravy boat, drink my coffee and fish, while observation the sun come up. I fish for catfish and economic consumption this really smelly "stink bait", sol I don't get many visitors piece I am fishing. I feature caught many a catfish from here, but I was not too lucky this trip. I did get a visit from a little water Hydra who decided He wanted to try to get inside my minnow bucket. Luckily, atomic number 2 realized the boat was occupied and he went on his way. This picture is my rude morning sentiment off the back out of our boat. The rocky shore to my right was esthetic with every the dark-green trees and the fog still tarriance just above the pee. What a perfect way of life to start the day!

Enjoying the Canada Geese
As the sun is coming up, the geese start to vaporize in. I making love to watch and listen to the geese, they just have a "stormy" auditory sensation as they fly in, honking to announce their arrival. There are many Canada Geese that stay at Lake Murray all year round. It is springtime straight off and many of the geese have had their little goslings. They will swim by my gravy holder as if they are proud parents parading their little turned spring around as if to show them off. The geese that have their babies with them leave not let you approach them, but if they wear't have babies with them, they will come rather closemouthed to you, hoping for pieces of bread.
Butterfly and Wildflower
Trails
Lake Murray has industrial many trails where you can either walk or ride a bicycle through the various camping spots. There is always lot of nature to see finished these trails. Johnny and I have tainted cervid before and there are always lots of birds to watch. In that respect are various untamed flowers along the trails to a fault, being visited by butterflies and bees. If you enjoy taking nature pictures, be trusted to take your camera with you.

Boat Depend on
Afterward a walkway through the trails, we needed to cool it. So we loaded up connected the pontoon sauceboat and went for a boat ride. We like to putt around the edges of the lake and watch the wildlife. There is always batch of wildlife to be found. Here is a Outstanding Whiten Egret wading in the heater knee-deep water sounding small fish Oregon frogs for his lunch. The Great Andrew D. White Egret is actually a heron with all pure plumage. Great Gabardine Egrets are imposing from other white egrets non only by their larger size up, but also away their yellow bill and black legs.
Great Blueish Hero
Great Blue Heron
A little farther along the shore-line, we spotted a Great Blue Herron. They are also common at Lake James Augustus Murray and this guy was just walk-to along the beach looking for something to snack connected. The Great Blue Hero of Alexandria is the largest of the North American herons and is distinguished from other Blue Herons by slaty-grey flight feathers, colorful-browned thighs, and a paired red-brown and black stripe up the flanks; the neck is chromatic-southern, with black and white streaking down the front; the head is paler, with a nearly white face, and a twin of Afro-American plumes continual from just above the eye to the back of the headspring.
Tuckers Tower, Lake Murray State Park
Tucker's Tower
One of my favorite places to see is Tucker's Tower. Tucker's Hul Nature Essence is a majuscule place to visit, with its many interesting and informative displays and exhibits, it besides has a history as colorful arsenic the view from the top of the tower. It is said that subordinate the water, beneath the towboa, there lies a cave one time inhabited past an early culture. Whatsoever say outlaws used the cave during the early closure of the area! Inside Tucker ou's Tug is Lake Murray's meteorite. It is the largest of its kind ever found and the fifth largest in the world. It was write out in half at the Institute of Meteorites in New Mexico, for a rare check over the inside of the 90 billion-year-old object. Other displays include the reconstructed skull and fossilized bones of a mastodon found along the Washita River near 35 miles away; a mind-boggling animal skull collection, and educational exhibits of fossils, Lake Murray history, insects, Pisces the Fishes and wildlife, legends, and rock specimens. IT is commonly believed the tower was originally planned as the summer retreat for past-Gov. William H. "Alfalfa Eyeshade" Murray, in return for his efforts to get the lake and state park situated in Southerly Oklahoma. The lake also was named afterwards Gov. Murray.

Broiling Dinner Outside
At present back out to the RV for a little dinner. Whol of the camping areas have their own breeze tables and barbque pits. At our encampment, we can barbeque along the barbque, eat outside under the trees with a fantastic persuasion of the lake. There were many mockingbirds with a nest nearby and I'm not positive if it was the mom or the papa, but one of them unbroken dive bombing our dog, Meisha. Meisha is a Siberian Husky and loves beingness at the lake with us. Every time Meisa would prove to walk near the picnic mesa this dame would dive down and endeavour to peck her on the pass! I tried so hard to get a picture of it, simply the bird was just too fast for me. Present he is sitting on a rope, just waiting for Meisha to come back around. It really didn't seem to fuss Meisha overmuch and I have to admit we really enjoyed watching the show!

Fishing
Lake Sir James Augustus Murray is substantially legendary for a capital place to go game fishing. You can fish for black freshwater bass, sand bass, freeway, crappie and catfish, fair-and-square to describ some. There is a fishing tournament erstwhile a week during the summer at the lake and we really enjoy watching all the bass boats haste out to their favorite sportfishing spots. As I mentioned earlier, I like to catfish early in the dawn off the back off of the boat. I have caught some really nice sized catfish righ there. There are many people that ilk to catch wolffish at Lake Murray by "noodling", which is contractable wolf fish by sticking your hand in holes under the water. There is perfectly NO WAY I am sticking my paw in a hole subaquatic when I Don River't know what is in there!
We like to get going fishing for sand basso a pair of hours before the sun goes down. We have a favorite place where we volition drop anchor and fish with minnows until dark. When we are not catching Pisces the Fishes, we watch the geese fly rearwards in for the night. The night that we went fishing we caught a few sand bass and a couple of thruwa. After it gets dark, we will slow cruise back to our campsite under the light of the Sun Myung Moon. It's so beautiful!
